1 in 10 pregnant women smoke

Okay, I continue reading new studies of pregnant women smoking throughout their pregnancies over and over again. I just don't get it! Everyone knows that smoking can be harmful to your baby, so why do women continue to do it?

According to a new study 1 out of 10 women in the United States smoke throughout their pregnancy. It was interesting to see that many of these women also suffer from depression. Depression hinders women from quitting the bad habit.

These ladies all know, I promise you, about the health risks. Thats not what it is, says Dr. Jan Blalock of the University of Texas M.D Anderson Cancer Center, which has begun a first-of-a-kind study, Project Baby Steps, to test whether non-drug depression therapy helps pregnant smokers quit.

We should at least understand more about why these ladies dont quit. We should be looking more carefully instead of just saying, Whoop, got this group of hard-core smokers.
