Bladder Infection in Pregnancy

Bladder infection is a bacteria infection that causes inflammation in the bladder. This is also called cystitis or a urinary tract infection. The urinary tract runs from the kidneys to the bladder to the urethra. A bladder infection results when bacteria enter the urethra and travels to the bladder.

Thursday night’s episode of Private Practice brought up a subject that no expectant mother wants to think about: a baby born with complications, problems, a birth defect, etc... Regardless of whether the pregnancy is planned or not or if the expectant mother is going to parent or place the baby for adoption, they don’t want to give much thought to this possibility, but I think it’s there in the back of our minds. Start 2009 Off Right

If 2009 is the year in which your baby will be born, I encourage you to start the year off on the right foot. How so? With your child in mind. Granted, you likely have your child in mind most of the time. But I encourage you to do so in a very proactive manner.

New Advice Regarding Fish Consumption

Like so many nutritional recommendations, there is new advice regarding fish consumption during pregnancy. The Food and Drug Administration is now encouraging pregnant women to consume more fish. Specifically, the FDA is recommending twelve ounces of fish per week.
